How often should I have my septic tank pumped?

It is recommended that you have your septic system pumped every 3-5 years.

What can I flush down my toilet?

Only flush human waste and toilet paper down the toilet.

You should avoid flushing items like dental floss, feminine hygiene products, condoms, diapers, cotton swabs, cigarette butts, coffee grounds, cat litter, paper towels, and household chemicals.

How can I prevent septic system failure?

 

  • Inspecting your system every 1 to 3 years
  • Pumping the tank every 3 to 5 years or as needed
  • Avoiding excess water use (e.g. spreading out laundry use over the week)
  • Flushing only human waste and toilet paper down the toilet.
